{"id":749,"date":"2018-09-22T22:22:23","date_gmt":"2018-09-22T12:22:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paulyeatman.net.au\/?p=749"},"modified":"2018-11-29T16:15:13","modified_gmt":"2018-11-29T05:15:13","slug":"life-in-the-lab-quality-assurance-microbiologist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulyeatman.net.au\/index.php\/2018\/09\/22\/life-in-the-lab-quality-assurance-microbiologist\/","title":{"rendered":"Life in the Lab &#8211; Quality Assurance Microbiologist"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Part of my Life in the Lab Series.<\/h1>\n<p>Here I summarise what each of my scientific roles have entailed.<\/p>\n<p>As a Quality Assurance Microbiologist, what does the day entail?<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>08:30 hrs &#8211; Start shift<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and deliver training<\/li>\n<li>Update documentation or delegate and meet with subject matter experts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>10:30hrs &#8211; 15 minute break<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gather data for annual product reviews<\/li>\n<li>Pursue special projects<\/li>\n<li>Pursue signatures on validation reports from other departments<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to IQ\/OQ\/PQ of LIMS system<\/li>\n<li>Control Change Management for new LIMS system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>12:30hrs &#8211; 45 minute lunch<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Meeting with production managers, supervisor and filling room staff as part of out of specification results investigation<\/li>\n<li>Oversee and control the of Sterile Media Fill Trial schedule<\/li>\n<li>Write investigation reports<\/li>\n<li>Conduct investigative monitoring or delegate<\/li>\n<li>Map business\u00a0 processes and improve processes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>15:30hrs &#8211; 15 minute break<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Perform housekeeping audit (weekly)<\/li>\n<li>Consult pharmacopeia and Government regulations to ascertain state of compliance<\/li>\n<li>Review pharmacopeia and Government regulations to ascertain impact of proposed changes and determine appropriate actions<\/li>\n<li>Issue updated documentation and train staff if training required<\/li>\n<li>Validate and commission new equipment including writing all validation documentation, creating or updating existing documentation and developing and delivering training to staff arising from this<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>17:00 &#8211; Depart for home<\/p>\n<h3>Roles Held<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/paulyeatman.net.au\/index.php\/2018\/09\/03\/life-in-the-lab-microbiology-technician\/\">Microbiology Technician<\/a> &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/paulyeatman.net.au\/index.php\/2018\/09\/13\/life-in-the-lab-microbiology-analyst\/\">Microbiology Analyst<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/paulyeatman.net.au\/index.php\/2018\/09\/18\/life-in-the-lab-microbiology-officer-aka-team-leader\/\">Senior Microbiologist aka &#8220;Microbiology Officer&#8221;<\/a> &#8211; Quality Assurance Microbiologist &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/paulyeatman.net.au\/index.php\/2018\/09\/27\/life-in-the-lab-microbiology-team-leader\/\">Non Sterile Microbiology Team Leader<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Part of my Life in the Lab Series.
