{"id":1425,"date":"2026-06-18T18:18:29","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T07:18:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/paulyeatman.net.au\/?p=1425"},"modified":"2026-07-02T02:37:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T15:37:13","slug":"thoughts-on-training-systems-and-operational-usability-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulyeatman.net.au\/index.php\/2026\/06\/18\/thoughts-on-training-systems-and-operational-usability-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Developing a Demonstration Quality Platform"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Over the last few weeks I\u2019ve been building a demonstration quality platform using self-hosted, open-source software.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">What started as a simple Quality Management System (QMS) quickly evolved into a broader question:<br \/>\nCould a small or medium manufacturer operate an integrated quality ecosystem without relying on multiple disconnected platforms and duplicate data entry?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Areas I\u2019m currently exploring include:<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Quality Management System (QMS) \u2013 audits, CAPA, non-conformances, change control and quality metrics<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Learning Management System (LMS) \u2013 training, competency assessment, refresher scheduling and training records<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) \u2013 sample management, environmental monitoring, microbiology and quality testing workflows<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Supplier approval and supplier quality management<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">HACCP review and verification workflows<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Workflow automation, dashboards and reporting<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">The objective isn\u2019t to replace established enterprise systems or build a commercial product.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">It\u2019s an opportunity to explore how integrated systems, standardised workflows and automation can reduce administrative overhead while improving visibility, traceability and data integrity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">One thing that has surprised me is how interconnected these processes really are. A supplier approval can drive training requirements, which influence laboratory testing, which feeds into product release, audit evidence and management review. When viewed as a single system rather than a collection of modules, opportunities for simplification start to appear.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">Building the platform has also been a useful way to think about quality systems from a different perspective\u2014not just as a user, but as someone mapping the relationships between documents, training, laboratory data, change control and operational processes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"_359e3235 _93797b7c _2dce6504\" tabindex=\"-1\" data-testid=\"expandable-text-box\">I\u2019m interested to hear how others are approaching system integration, particularly in food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and other regulated industries.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over the last few weeks I\u2019ve been building a demonstration quality platform using self-hosted, open-source software.
