{"id":1068,"date":"2020-03-04T15:13:45","date_gmt":"2020-03-04T04:13:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/paulyeatman.net.au\/?p=1068"},"modified":"2020-08-06T11:32:00","modified_gmt":"2020-08-06T00:32:00","slug":"1068","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/paulyeatman.net.au\/index.php\/2020\/03\/04\/1068\/","title":{"rendered":"About 20% of (FDA) Recalls are Due to Microbial Contamination."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As of March 4 2020, 16 of the last 50 recalls by the FDA for pharmaceutical products were due to microbial contamination or a lack of\u00a0 sterility assurance.\u00a0\u00a0Another 27 were due to impurities with 5 more due to mislabeling.\u00a0 Looking at TGA recalls for 2019, around half of the medicine recalls due to contamination were the result of microbial contamination.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It is vitally important that your products are fit for purpose.\u00a0What is on the label <em>must<\/em> be in the product.\u00a0Nothing more.\u00a0Nothing less. Quality assurance goes a long way and with the correct processes in place, the number of potential batch recalls should be zero.<\/p>\n<p>With regards to microbial contamination, I am updating my &#8220;Microbiology for Non-Microbiologists&#8221; presentation and will shortly be providing an abridged version online.
